HeliMailServer 3 Overview


HeliMailServer 3 is a standalone application that enables Helix Databases to send and receive Emails.

How does it work.
HeliMailServer 3 operates through timers that  trigger the various functions. The main functions are :
  1. - the retrieval of mails from a collection and their transmission via your internet connection
  2. - the recovery of your mail from pop servers and the loading into your collection.

Communication between HeliMailServer 3 and a Helix Collection is via AppleEvents.

In order to “talk” to a Collection you need to identify yourself, through appleevents, to the database just as if you were connecting as a Helix Client or Helix Rade in User Mode. That is to say you need to connect to a specific Database as a known user with that user’s password. In order to retrieve, delete or enter data the appleevent also needs to know which relation and which view it is to “communicate” with.
